Thelton E. Henderson was a judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California from 1980 to 2017, serving as Chief Judge from 1990-1997 and Senior Judge from 1998-2017. He is best known for rulings on prison conditions and for striking down Proposition 209, the anti-affirmative action California initiative of 1996.
